Here’s the custom Giro Aeon helmet being worn by defending champion Alberto Contador at the Tour de France.
The Aeon was released in April and weighs just 189g. Giro achieved this low weight with a Thermoformed SL Roll Cage that is, according to the manufacturer, half the weight of the previous composite internal skeleton.
Contador’s custom helmet features the rider’s name and La Bandera de España on the either side, as well as the red and yellow of the Spanish flag on the back. The graphics are screened, just like Giro’s production helmets, and not painted in order to save weight.
Three sizes and eight colours are available to regular punters for £199.99.
