Trek is a large company and that probably explains why they have such a vast range of road bikes. You’ve got the performance range, starring the Madone’s and Pilot’s, a comprehensive entry-level range and not forgetting their specific time trial machines. The Trek 2000 however, sits bang in the middle of Trek’s mid range road bikes.
We tested the Pilot 5.2 a while back, and gave it the RCUK thumbs up, but the 2000 is less of a comfort bike and built more for pure speed. Will we rate it as highly?
An aluminium frame with OCLV carbon seat stays and Bontrager carbon forks up front ensure the bike has plenty of ping. A full Shimano Ultrega groupset throughout, with the option of a double or triple chainset. A Bontrager Race Wheel System with Bontragers own 23c tyres, and, as you’d expect, all the finishing components are from the Bontrager stable, with a carbon seatpost.
