British Cycling announce strong Para-Cycling Road World Championships line-up

Four Paralympic champions – Darren Kenny, Rachel Morris, David Stone and Sarah Storey – are included in Great Britain’s 13-rider team for the Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Denmark next month.

Sarah Storey won individual pursuit and time trial gold at the Beijing Paralympics

The event, from September 8-11, is the last major road event before London 2012 Paralympic Games. World Championships debutants Mark Colbourne, Simon Price and Crystal Lane are also included in the squad.

“These World Championships are the last important road marker for us before London 2012 and the final opportunity to measure our performance against that of the international field,” said team manager Gareth Sheppard.

“We have therefore selected a squad that is capable of bringing home many medals and scoring as many qualification points as possible.

“We have also given a number of up-and-coming athletes vying for a spot on the London 2012 road team an opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level.”

Great Britain team

Mark Colbourne, Jody Cundy, Karen Darke, Darren Kenny, Crystal Lane, Shaun McKeown, Rachel Morris, Simon Price, David Stone, Sarah Storey, Lora Turnham (pilot Louise Haston), Rik Waddon.
