Spotted attached to a bare rim on the Continental Tyre stand at the 2012 London Cycle Show was this interestingly fat tubular tyre. Under questioning, a representative of Conti importer Cambrian Tyres revealed that the tub is a prototype 25mm version of the renowned Competition tubular. Based on the 25mm version of the Competition used by top pro racers and already distributed to Continental-sponsored elite road teams, it will be available in the UK by spring 2012.
Indentical in construction to the standard 22mm Competition, it is hand-made in Germany, features a Vectran anti-puncture belt under the Black Chili compound pimpled tread and will be offered at the same price of £64.29.
