The 2012 Tour of Britain will run from Sunday 9 to Sunday 16 September, race organisers have announced.
Mark Cavendish, who this week signed for Team Sky, used the eight-day race to fine-tune his World Championship preparations, winning two stages before going on to claim gold in Copenhagen.
And next year’s race should provide the perfect warm-up for the 2012 worlds in Limburg, Netherlands, with men’s road race due to take place on Sunday 23 September.
Further details on the route for next year’s Tour of Britain will be announced in the new year, with the full route and competing teams revealed in the spring.
Tour of Britain organisers are also encouraging spectators who watched the 2011 edition to complete an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/ToB-2011.
