The inaugural Cyclefit Fondo is set to take place on September 19, with both a 100km and 150km route available for riders.

Cyclefit founder Julian Wall, resident of nearby Lympne, has designed the course to take in the flat landscape of Romney Marsh and the challenging hills around Peene and Elham.

Wall said: “Romney Marsh is a special place. I wanted to share it with people from outside the area and maybe create some revenue for local businesses.

“You shouldn’t have to land jumbo jets on an area of outstanding natural beauty to create jobs, using the marsh’s natural sustainable assets to create wealth makes much more sense.”
