Forget the Kiron Dragon Ride; the 2010 edition of Britain’s leading cyclosportive ride will be known as the Verenti Dragon Ride. Trademark issues over the use of the name Kiron obliged wiggle.co.uk to rebrand the Kiron Bikes range as Verenti, which in turn will be the Dragon Ride’s new event sponsor.

The 2009 event attracted a capacity 3100 riders including professional star rider Dan Lloyd of the Cervelo Test Team and Paralympic and World Champions Simon Richardson and Darren Kenny as well as a number of corporate team entries.

The 2010 ride will also feature a new short-distance ‘Corto’ route covering 40km, offering a less demanding outing than the regular 190km Gran Fondo or 130km Medio Fondo distances. All three routes start and finish at Pencoed Technology Park and take in the mountainous terrain around Bridgend, with the Gran Fondo traversing the Brecon Beacons and offering over 3000m of ascent.

Online entry to the 2010 Verenti Dragon Ride will open at midnight on 27/28th December 2009 with individual entry costing £30 for the Medio and Gran Fondos and £20 for the Corto.
