You might not be hearing too much from David Duffield from the Tour de France this year, but he’s not about to disappear altogether, the Eurosport commentator has put his name to the first of CTC’s Challenge Ride series this year on 2nd May 2004. The “David Duffield Challenge” around Bath will take in the Somerset countryside and some Cotswold climbs. There’ll be the customary 100km and 150km routes or offer, as well as a 30km route for families and those new to cycling.
Never short for words, Duffers said he was pleased to have a chance to “share some of my favourite routes around Bath whilst at the same time raising money for a very worthwhile cause.” The money raised by the Challenge Ride series goes to support CTC’s campaigning work and the Cyclists’ Defence Fund: last year the rides raised over £7,500.
If you can’t make the Duffield Challenge there are several other rides in the series throughout the summer, like the Heart of England Challenge (road and off-road versions). For full details and to download an application form pop over to the ctc site.
