Fancy a ride along Loch Ness with a bit of running beforehand? If so and you can put together a team of four, the First Monster10 duathlon is the event for you.
Taking place on 11 September 2010 and starting from Inverness, it covers 120km and follows the Great Glen Way along the north side of the Scottish loch famous for the eponymous monster.
Each of the four members of a team covers one running leg and one cycling leg of the route, the first runner also being the first cyclist, the first cycle leg coming after the fourth running leg and so on. Got that?
The even starts and finishes at the same place and, at the end of each leg, where the changeovers take place, there will be a marquee with marshals, First Aid, water, radio communications and transport to ferry competitors either to their next start or to the finish.
In 2009 some 278 teams took part with all but two of them making the finish. Full details of the race may be found at www.firstmonster.com .
