Despite a rocky time for the future of Herne Hill Stadium last year, the classic Good Friday Meeting still went ahead with its usual storming success. Each year, South London’s Herne Hill Velodrome is packed out with roaring crowds for the race meeting which has become notorius for its impressive display of international cycling talent. Since 1903 the riders have never failed to impress and this year will be no exception. So, make a note in your diary now for a great day out on Friday 14th April.
As ever, the racing will feature a mix of top international, national & local riders, performing to what is once again expected to be a packed out stadium of enthusiastic spectators. If you’ve yet to experience the classic Good Friday atmosphere at Herne Hill you’re really missing out. In traditional style, the hugest crowds you’ll probably see at a track side bang on the boards and generally make for an incredibly noisy and exciting day out.
Outside bars, catering units and traders stalls will all add to the atmosphere and make for a great day out for all the family.
The rider list is not yet fully confirmed but we can certainly expect to see some impressive racing as always. So, keep an eye on the Good Friday meeting website for updates on an event not to be missed this Spring.
The Good Friday Meeting is organised and promoted by Graham Bristow on behalf of the Southern Counties Cycling Union. For more information contact [email protected]
