The Giordana sponsored Gran Fondo Eddy Merckx takes place on 2 June in Rivalta di Brentino Belluno, Italy, and offers the choice of 148km, 90km in the Mediofondo or a 40km taster.

Eddy Merckx himself presented the 2009 edition of the event this week, along with old road mates Luciano Soave, Pietro Guerra, Severino Andreoli and others. Eddy announced that he’ll be riding the event too.

The 148km route includes an impressive 1740m of climbing, on a route that starts in Brentino Belluno is held in the beautiful countryside and prestigious Pinot Grigio vineyards. Though less demanding, the 90km route still includes a challenging amount of climbing and shouldn’t be underestimated.

The first 500 riders to enter will each receive a bandana signed by Merckx. There’ll be a pasta party at the finish and each rider will receive a goody bag packed with clothing and food.
