David Millar signed a two year contract with the Saunier Duval Prodir cycling team earlier this week and will begin racing in June 2006 with his first race back scheduled to be the Tour de France. In an official communiqué the team made the following statement:
“David Millar is an outstanding athlete and Saunier Duval Prodir is convinced he deserves a second chance to prove his talent. He has recognized his mistake and is very motivated to make his comeback an amazing one.
The team will take precautionary measures to confirm his good faith, as will the UCI and WADA. The team will do everything possible to offer him the best conditions to come back to competition and looks forward to see David racing for the yellow colours of Saunier Duval Prodir.”
David will make his first official appearance for the Saunier Duval Prodir team at the official team presentation at the end of January 2006.
