London to Paris entries open on Monday

The 350 cyclists are treated to rolling road closures

Entries for the 2011 London to Paris cyclo-sportive will open on Monday November 1 at midday.

The 520km four-day ride from June 23-26 includes motorbike outriders, rolling road closures and professional logistical back up from Hampton Court to the Eiffel Tower.

The event costs €1,150 (£960) per person and the 350 cyclists will be supported by a 100-strong HotChillee’s crew.

The Daily Telegraph listed London-Paris as one of the world’s top 25 mass participation events, alongside the New York and London marathons.

Last year’s event saw Stephen Roche, winner of the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and World Championships in 1987, among the participants.

“The London-Paris cycle tour is one of the best experiences a cyclist can have,” said Roche.  “The ride has all the professionalism of a pro-event like the Tour de France and is a real test of physical and mental endurance.

“But it’s also an event with legendary camaraderie and that’s why I love it. The L2P is all about serious cyclists having fun out on the road. If you love cycling, t’he L2P is the event to do.”
