That looks pretty Sportive! |
The Sportive season has been bigger and better than ever this year and there’s plenty more to come! Southern Sportive 2006 takes place on 10th September, taking you on a challenging 150k circuit of the stunning Hampshire and Sussex Downs. Southern Sportive is organised by Trail Break who have 15 years experience in the bike events market and an intimate knowledge of the South Downs.
Starting and finishing at Petersfield at the foot of the Downs, the route was recently pre ridden for Trail Break by Rory Hitchens from USE and Triathlon, Running and Cycling Show organiser David Townsend. David gave us his feedback about the course:
“Great route and, having done a few sportives here and abroad recently, it’s got great potential. Very picturesque! It’s a flowing route that winds through quaint villages, rolling hills and unspoiled country side, punctuated by sharp challenging climbs that take you up, over and along the ridge of the South Downs. A superb finisher to the sportive season.”
There are three ascents of the steep north ridge of the Downs to test your mettle and long flowing sections and a rolling hill finish that will really get your legs turning. And if you take time to look up from the road, the scenery will provide the inspiration you need to get you to the finish.
If you are new to Sportive riding there are 90km or 65km options to ease you in gently, but all distances get the full package including comprehensive route marking, accurate to the second SportIdent timing, support stations, mechanical assistance, free event t shirt and more! As if that wasn’t enough, every rider will be entered in a prize draw for a chance to win some great prizes, including an incredible road biking holiday in the Pyrenees with Pyractif!
