In addition to a 20km Time Trial, various leisure rides and the Brompton World Championships 2008, Bike Blenheim Palace, taking place on Sunday 28th September, will include an E/1/2/3 category Road Race.

The race, organised by British Cycling, will be over 1 hour plus 1 lap on a completely closed road 6.5km circuit. Open to male Elite, 1st, 2nd and 3rd category riders, the timing at the end of the road racing season is perfect for entrants wanting to maintain sharpness for the hill climb season in October. Expect racing to be ferocious, with speeds reaching 70 -80km/h on the scenic oak tree-lined roads of Blenheim Park.

First prize for the Road Race is a Brompton S2L-X folding cycle, which retails at £1,284, with 2nd prize a £250 voucher and 3rd prize a £100 voucher. Bike Blenheim Palace organisers expect to attract around 3,000 spectators to the event, which it is hoped will become a Premier Calendar event in 2009.
