Bradley Wiggins' Prologue Garmin data

There’s no more pressure than lining up for the start of the Tour de France, which this year was an individual time trial around Monaco. The challenging circuit provided an exhilarating race, with Britain’s Bradley Wiggins finishing in third place.

As the Garmin-Slipstream team for which he rides are sponsored by the GPS computer manufacturer, each rider has the latest Garmin Edge 705 fixed to their bikes which allows riders and coaches a revealing amount of information which can be used to asses just how hard the rider was working.

The team could just keep this data to themselves, as most of teams tend to do with data recorded from other devices. But in the interests of openness much of the data from the Garmin team is available for us to view. And it makes for interesting viewing indeed.

That latest splurge of data comes from the 2009 Tour de France Prologue courtesy of Bradley Wiggins. When viewing the data, bare in mind that it includes two warm-up sessions before the actual time trial.
