Bradley Wiggins to ride Tour of Britain

Following an incredible ride in the Tour de France in which Britain’s Bradley Wiggins rode to a fourth place, the Garmin Slipstream professional rider has confirmed he’ll ride the forthcoming Tour of Britain. Among the other confirmed riders are Brits Dan Fleeman, Roger Hammond and Jeremy Hunt.

The organisers of the Tour of Britain, taking place on 12–19 September, have today confirmed another four teams that will take to the roads around the UK. Cervelo Test Team will attend for the first time, as will Euskaltel – Euskadi and Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team. Fourth last year, Garmin Slipstream will be hoping to go several better – could Wiggins be capable of pulling off the win?

The Tour of Britain is the UK’s biggest free to attend sporting event, attracting over a million spectators per year to towns, cities and communities across the length and breadth of the country. The 2009 event begins in Scunthorpe on Saturday 12 September and finishes eight days later in the centre of London on Saturday 19 September.
