The Tour Series, the brand-new city centre race series, kicked off in Milton Keynes on 21 May in a rush of colour and high-tempo racing.
Run off at an average speed of 28 miles per hour, the race was won by Candi TV – Marshalls Pasta rider Graham Briggs after a controversial last few metres that saw the Doncaster-based rider tussle with Olympian Rob Hayles.
Hayles crossed the line first and Briggs second, but their finishing positions were reversed by race judges after it was decided that the Halfords-Bikehut rider impeded Briggs in the last few metres.
In the headline team competition, Candi Tv – Marshalls Pasta took the first race, with Graham Briggs, Malcolm Elliott and Simon Holt making up the winning trio.
