GWR to ride Wilier bikes

gwr team launch

Wilier Le Roi XL Record

The GWR Cycling Team launched their 2007 campaign last weekend, and showed off their new Wilier team bikes in the process. The riders will be looking to improve on their great results last year, culminating in a top ten overall, and have been putting their new bikes through pre-season training. Results last year include 21 victories with 37 top three placings and this put GWR ninth from the 500 teams across the UK.

Wilier supply bikes to Tour de France teams Lampre and Confidis, but this is the first time Wilier have ventured into the amateur racing arena. Colin Bath, Wilier brand manager at sole UK distributor ATB Sales Ltd, said: “This is an exciting venture for us with Wilier in the UK. The deal we have struck with GWR will see them get top racing machines and hopefully enable the lads to improve their ranking this year.”

Other sponsors include: Scott Wilson Railways, Steel Davis Building Contractors, META Sports Performance, TTI, GWSR FM, Red Planet Bikes, Sports Beans, Diamond Health and Fitness, Continental Tyres.
