Zak Dempster (Endura Racing) has won the ninth round of the Halfords Tour Series.
Dempster won a bunch sprint after a launching a series of attacks throughout the race in Woking town centre.
The Australian, who won the series round in Canary Wharf, said he had been disappointed by his performance at the London IG Nocturne on his return to the capital, and had prepared for Woking by training with teammate, Jon Tiernan-Locke, leader of the UCI EuropeTour.
“Yesterday, I went out for a few hours in the rain and today I felt strong enough to go for the win. It’s really important this week that we show we’re the best team and not dying off at the end of the series,” he said.
Dempster’s win capped a satisfying evening for Endura Racing, who lifted the team prize and go into tomorrow’s final round a Stoke on Trent 17 points clear of second placed Rapha Condor Sharp with 20 points still on offer.
Directeur sportif, Julian Winn, said his team had ridden their best round as a unit in Woking, but weren’t taking overall victory in the series for granted.
“The overall win is getting more realistic and we but won’t relax until we’re first after the evening in Stoke. I want them all on it until right up until after that last race,” said Winn.
