80,000 spectators at the annual Race of Champions in Wembley Stadium this weekend will witness an extraordinary battle of man vs. machine, as Olympian Chris Hoy will race Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
Sounds an odd race, and just a little one-sided, what with the 670bhp that Hamilton will have on tap from the McLaren Mercedes SLR car he’ll be driving. But organisers say that they’ve gone to great lengths to level the playing field, and have designed a tight and twisty track and will give Hoy a flying start, with Hamilton making a standing start. A chicane located on the bridge of the course should further slow Hamilton’s pace too. It could be the most interesting race of the year.
Race of Champions is a yearly battle of the world’s best motoring icons and pits the drivers against each other in identical cars over a series of knockout heats, to crown the champion.
So, who do you think will win?
