Ross Edgar, Ian Bibby, Dean Downing and Graham Briggs are among the riders confirmed for the IG London Nocturne elite men’s criterium at the London Bike Show on Saturday January 19.
The race, which will take place on the third evening of the four day show, will be run over the same 600m course as the RCUK Test Track, which will offer show visitors the chance to try the latest bikes from Cannondale, Cube Bikes, Fondriest, Giant, Moda and Wilier.
Teams from IG Sigma Sport, Madison Genesis, Raleigh-GAC, Primal Wear, Team Hope, Wheel Base and Team Kuota will line-up for what will be the UK’s first indoor criterium.
Edgar, who won keirin silver behind Sir Chris Hoy at the 2008 Olympic Games, will ride for IG Sigma Sport, while Bibby and Downing will compete for the newly-formed Madison-Genesis squad, and Briggs will ride for Raleigh-GAC after a strong start to his 2013 season, finishing fourth in the Bay Crits in Australia.
“The London Bike Show provides an excellent launch platform for the main IG London Nocturne event,” said organiser James Pope.
“We’re looking forward to replicating the Nocturne excitement in an indoor venue and giving people a taste of the action that will take place around Smithfield Market on June 8. The indoor circuit will create a different style of racing and will be a massive attraction for the London Bike Show audience.”
RCUK will host the test track during each day, while the racing will be held every night.
On Thursday January 17, the test track will operate from 10.30am to 4pm before racing starts at 5.30pm. On Friday January 18, the test track will be open for business between 10.30am and racing will start at 5pm.
On Saturday January 19 and Sunday January 20, we’ll host the test rack from 10.30am to 2pm.
