Johansson Wins Python Road Race
Freddie Johansson – enjoying his racing in the UK |
Plowman Craven Racing Teams young Swede Freddie Johansson continued his great run of form gained at the Tour of the South, with a well deserved victory in the Python RT road race near Maidenhead last Sunday.
In torrential rain the boys in blue once again dominated the event and after an early break stole a march on the field, they literally destroyed the race to make the lead group.
It was Freddie along with Malcolm Elliott who made the final group of six, with the 20 year old attacking near the finish to out sprint Colin Roshier for his second victory in a week. Malcolm came home in third place.

Elliott Runner Up In Rochdale
Malcolm Elliott – still performing in 2006 |
In virtual darkness and with rain storms of Armageddon proportions, Malcolm Elliott took the runner up spot in the latest round of the national elite circuit series in Rochdale.
Town centre circuits with diesel on the road from cars and buses become skating rinks for bikes in the wet. Elliott is renowned for his bike handling skills and put this to good use when he joined former World and Olympic champion Chris Newton in an attempt to split the field.
The two worked well together and gained almost a minute and a half on the bunch coming into the final lap.
With the conditions making the sprint difficult Newton out sprinted Elliott for the win, but with series leader Warrick Spence absent, the Plowman Craven RT rider closed the gap at the top of the overall standings. National criterium champion James Taylor just missed out on the podium taking fourth.
