With only one Revolution to go in the current Championship, the DHL Future Stars are preparing to do battle on 27 February for the few remaining points which will decide the overall winners of the Series.
The boys’ competition looks set to go down to the wire, with only four points separating Owain Doull and Robert Lampton at the top of the table. Doull has led the competition from the start and, despite not taking a win at Revolution 27, three top 10 race finishes were enough for him to maintain a slender lead.
Lampton was in storming form at Revolution 27 claiming victory in the 5km Points Race and third place in the boys Elimination. His strong performances moved him into touching distance of the leader’s jersey guaranteeing a nail-biting finale.
With only one round left Doull is feeling the pressure but has his sights firmly set on the title: “I’m really pleased to still be top of the table,” he commented. “There are a few guys hot on my heels and there is a lot of talent in the Future Stars field so I’ll need to be at my best at the final event to take the title.”
In the girls’ competition, Emily Kay is leading the field, thanks to some fantastic riding at the last two events. Victories in the 6 Lap Dash and the 5km Points Race at Revolution 27 have consolidated her position at the top of the table moving her past previous leader, Hannah Barnes.
Kay now leads by 26 points and should clinch the title leaving Barnes and Harriet Owen to fight it out for second position. With only one point separating the Forza team-mates spectators can look forward to plenty of action as the competition reaches a dramatic conclusion.
To compliment a packed evening programme the Future Stars will also complete in a special Madison competition as part of an additional event taking place in the afternoon.
The event will also include the National Madison Championships and tickets are available to purchase now on www.cyclingrevolution.com
