The sun shone in London and a massive, massive crowd lined the streets for the
Prologue of the 2007 Tour de France.

Going off before many of the favourites, Andreas Klöden (Asatana) set a superb time. George Hincapie (Discovery Channel)came close but not close enough.

Soon to follow was Londoner Bradley Wiggins, who received the biggest cheers of the day.
Although his time wasn’t good enough to beat Klöden, his ride for a short while got him into
third spot.

Starting third from last, World Time Trial Champion Fabian Cancellara
(CSC) was 7 seconds up at the midway point and at one point almost caught his motorcycle escort. He went on to complete the prologue course 13 seconds faster
than Klöden , pushing Wiggins into fourth place.

David Millar (Saunier Duval) was 13th and said afterward, ‘The course was beautiful.
It was like a wave of noise just following me. I’m going to pick my moment and
win a stage in this race."

Australian, Stuart O’Grady (CSC) was one rider to fall foul of the course when
he crashed, but he was able to remount and finish.
