Olympic points race champion Mikhail Ignatiev (Tinkoff Credit Systems) showed his guile with a blistering attack just 20km from the finish line of yesterday’s 3rd stage of the Tour of the Med. The 21 year old caught and dropped Amael Moinard (Cofidis) to finish with 14s in hand over stage 2 winner Daniele Bennati (Lampre Fondital) at the end of the 158km stage into Marseilles. Fellow Italian sprinter Gabriele Balducci (Acqua e Sapone) placed third, and Ivan Gutierrez retained the yellow jersey.
