Tour of the Peak

The Tour of the Peak is perhaps the last true monument in British road racing. It’s been under threat for a few years and was cancelled in 2004 for the first time in over sixty years mainly due to traffic pressure and policing/marshalling difficulties. This year it had been cancelled, but the good news is that the Tour of the Peak restored to the racing calendar, due to take place on Sunday 11th September 2005, organiser Mike Taylor is looking for volunteer marshalls to assist with the safe running of the event.

The race will take place on roads to the south of Buxton in Derbyshire and should last for about four hours. So take a ride out to the event and help out, it will be massively appreciated.

Sponsorship from Planet X has made it possible, as their MD Dave Lochran says:

“You can’t let a race like ‘the Peak’ die, we’ve all raced it, watched it and been a part of it for years and any help Planet X can give in making sure it happens this year is really important”

If you are able to help, please call Mike on 01298 813254 for more details
