Cycle Show attracts cycling celebrities

Nicole Cooke added the 2008 World Championship medal to her long list of achievements at the weekend

With just 2 weeks to go until Cycle 2008 opens its doors, The Cycle Show announces personal appearances at the show from some of the biggest names in the industry. Over the course of the show visitors will have the chance to see and meet the following:

Nicole Cooke is the Olympic women’s road race gold medallist and will be at the show on Sunday. She is doing an interview and Q&A session within the Cycle Arena and will be signing copies of her new book.

Paul Goodison is a Beijing Olympic Gold medallist and one of the most exciting sailors of his generation. When he’s not training he likes nothing more than hanging out with his mates and going mountain biking. Paul will be at Cycle on Saturday 11th October from 11am -3pm.

Paul Manning has represented Team GB in the team pursuit at three Olympic Games: Athens, Sydney and Beijing. He has been a medallist on all three occasions, taking bronze in 2000, silver in 2004 and now gold in 2008, the last with a world record time. Paul will be at the show this year on Saturday 11th October.

Gee and Rachel Atherton are the current world downhill mountain bike champions and will be at Cycle with their brother Dan, who will host Q&A on the different aspects of mountain bike racing.

David Millar is one of the best known British professional cyclists on the European circuit. He has taken stage wins in all three Grand Tours over the course of his career and currently rides for the American team Garmin-Chipotle. David will be appearing with Garmin on Saturday 11th October.

Darren Kenny is a gold medal winning, world record holding member of the GB Paralympic team. At the recent Beijing Paralympic Games Kenny took a staggering four gold medals, scoring victories on both road and track as part of a hugely successful Team GB squad. Darren will be at the show on Saturday 11th October 2008.

Shanaze Reid, one of the big favorites for Gold in the first-ever BMX cycling events in the Olympics, was plagued by crashes and came away empty-handed. However her refusal to give up won her a new set of fans and this multiple world champion in both BMX & track cycling will be received as a hero at Cycle 08. Shanaze will be at the show on Friday 10th October 2008, attending the Bikeability schools session and signing autographs.

Michelle Dillon, winner of the London Triathlon and two-time Olympian, will be at the show each day to answer your training and nutrition questions.

Jim Rees, the soloist who raced 3,150 miles across America, will be cycling 100 miles a day at the show on his stand for charity.
