For 2009, the Gore Bike Wear Road Sportive Series 2009 will consist of three rounds: Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales on 4 July, Selkirk, Scotland on 1 August and Ruthin, Wales on 19 September.

The Gore Bike Wear Road Sportive Series 2009 offers 80-100mile ‘classic’ road challenges taking in the best road climbs that Wales and the Scottish Borders have to offer. And, with a 40-50mile ‘standard’ option, the events are open to a wide range of riders and abilities.

The Scottish round in Selkirk will see a further course added to the line-up with the introduction of the 120 mile ‘extreme’ sportive. So, with three locations to choose from and with all together seven courses on offer, sportive riders of all abilities should be able to find a suitable challenge.

The Gore Bike Wear Road Sportive Series 2009 rides are single-loop events with the start and finish positioned in the same location as the event village, registration and event camping. The start will open at 8am on Saturday and will stay open for approximately one hour to give everybody the chance to have a relaxing start at the time of their choosing.

The courses are fully marked but every rider will get a small ‘backup map’ given in case that marking is not 100% clear or gets damaged or removed. Around the course, energy food sponsor High5 will be present with energy drinks, bars, and gels as well as with bananas and water. Alongside the energy backup, mechanics will be out there to help everybody with any technical problems.

First round on 4 July at Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales

The first sportive moves from Builth Wells to Llanwrtyd Wells. The event is located in a stunningly scenic area in the heart of Mid Wales and an ideal place for one of the most breathtaking and challenging road sportives in the 2009 series.

John Lloyd is once again putting two challenging sportive courses together and makes use of his extensive local knowledge from countless hours in the saddle of his road bike. Only a short drive from his home town of Builth Wells, the move to the new location opens a completely new area and will allow him to give the riders what they are looking for.
