Sugoi C9 Gel Gloves £14.99
A fingerless mitt is a staple product of any road cyclist, and the C9 Gel Gloves from Sugoi are about the best from RCUK’s pile of summer test products.
They’re billed as a premium glove at an entry level price, and certainly live up to that claim. The main feature is the gel padding aligned on the palm in what Sugoi calls a ‘wish-bone’ arrangement, covering both the ulnar and median nerves. The gel isn’t too bulky however and the gloves still retain a thinness that I prefer while still eliminating road buzz.
Fit is great. A slip-on design keeps them simple and close-fitting. The back is mostly a close mesh material which allows airflow to reach your hands during hot days. There’s a large Terry thumb patch for wiping excess snot and sweat, and 3M Scotchlite piping and logos gives a nice bit of visibility.
They’re well made, and have been put to use in everything from road races to sportives and are still in good condition. A good investment for a small outlay.
Five sizes (XS to SL) and two colours; black or white, are available.
Verdict
The combination of a great fit, slim gel padding and the price has made these an instant hit.
