Brian Smith, general manager of the former Endura Racing squad, and the Scottish team’s directeur sportif, Alex Sans Vega, will join the UCI Pro Continental squad next season.

Smith will serve as assistant general manager with responsibilities for planning and scouting.

General manager, Ralph Denk, said: “It’s important for our development that we also become professional with regard to scouting.

“Brian not only has a wealth of experience and a very good network at his disposal. With Endura Racing, he’s also demonstrated a nose for talent.”

The 2012 Endura Racing squad included a host of acquisitions, including Tour of Britain winner, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke, who joined from Rapha Condor Sharp, and neo pro, Erick Rowsell, winner of stage five of the Tour of Normandy, a graduate of British Cycling’s respected Academy.

Sans Vega will continue in his role as directeur sportif, working with the team’s two existing directors.

“Alex will bring a great deal to our team because, as a sport director for the Endura Racing Team, he already knows a large part of our new squad.

“In addition, we can count on the experience he has gained from 20 Grand Tours. In terms of our Iberian riders and the races in southern Europe, he’s a valuable addition to Jens Heppner and Enrico Poitschke,” said Denk.
