UCI Track World Championships day three – photo gallery

The 2012 UCI World Track Championships will be Victoria Pendleton’s last and Queen Vicky went out in style with a dramatic day on the boards.

Rivalries don’t come any more intense than the one Pendleton shares with Australia’s  Anna Meares. The pair went wheel to wheel and then beyond in a gripping semi-final that saw Pendleton come back from a first race crash to oust Meares 2-1 to reach the final and beat Lithuania’s Simona Krupeckaitė.

Elsewhere the men’s sprint competition was incredibly close across all eight races, forcing Sir Chris Hoy to qualify through a repechage, and Jason Kenny to contest  a best of three decider with Kevin Sireau of France.

Ed Clancy produced some strong performances in the men’s omnium, while victory in the elimination race in the women’s omnium leaves Laura Trott in second with one day to go.
