The London 2012 velodrome takes pride of place in a new series of aerial photographs of the Olympic Park.
The velodrome was the first Olympic Park venue to be completed, in February 2011, and will be used for the first time for the London round of the 2011-12 UCI Track World Cup on February 17-19.
London 2012 organisers, Locog, say 90 per cent of the Olympic Park is now complete. The Olympic Delivery Authority is due to hand the site over to Locog early next year.
The Olympic stadium, aquatics centre, athletes village and BMX track, where Shanaze Reade will attempt to win gold, can also be seen in the photos, while construction continues on the 115m Orbit tower.
“A huge amount has been achieved over the past 12 months with iconic new venues completed and test events bringing world-class sport to the Olympic Park for the first time,” said Locog chairman Lord Sebastian Coe. “We still have much to do but there is growing excitement as we count down to the Games next summer.”
