Wilier Triestina have leaked a trailer of the Zero 7 which, when officially unveiled in mid-June, will be the Italian manufacturer’s lightest-ever road frame.
Weighing under 800g for a medium frame, the Zero 7 features a differentiated diameter headtube – 1 1/8″ at the top and 1 1/4″ at the bottom – to create, Wilier say, an optimal balance of stiffness and maneuverability.
The 60-ton carbon fibre Zero 7 also debuts the 386 bottom bracket system, developed by Wilier in collaboration with FSA and unveiled last month.
Testing has shown the 86.5mm-wide 386, compatible with all existing prominent cranksets, to improve stiffness by 30 per cent.
Zero 7 also marks the introduction of S.E.I Film (Special Elastic Infiltrated). The injection of a proprietary elastic film between layers of carbon increases vibration absorption and impact resistance.
Limited stock of the Zero 7 will be available later this month, although there’s no word on the price yet.
