Adam Blythe and Ed Clancy confirmed for Revolution round one

RideLondon winner returns to boards as part of all-star cast for opening weekend

RideLondon-Surrey Classic winner Adam Blythe (NFTO) will return to the boards as part of an elite line-up set for the opening round of this year’s Revolution Series at the Lee Valley VeloPark.

Blythe, a former national Madison champion and junior European champion in the team pursuit, will partner NFTO team-mate Matt Rowe, while Ed Clancy (Rapha Condor JLT) and Team Sky duo Ben Swift and Luke Rowe have also been confirmed for the event.

The event, a double-header taking place on Friday October 24 and Saturday October 25, will see Maloja Pushbikers begin their defence of the Elite Championship, while a Great Britain vs Rest of World Madison and a host of UCI Class One racing is also scheduled – with Laura Trott and Marianne Vos already confirmed for the weekend.

And now Clancy – who enjoyed great success in last year’s Series as Rapha Condor JLT finished second overall and set a new Madison Kilo world record in the process – will also make his return to the scene of his London 2012 Olympic triumphs.

He said: “To come back to the Olympic Velodrome where I have so many great memories and to race against the world’s best in front of an electrifying home crowd is the perfect combination.

“I’m hoping that my experience on the track will lead me to the podium, but I know with all the riders that have been confirmed it won’t be easy.”

Blythe, meanwhile, is relishing his return to the boards having been in resurgent form on the road for NFTO this year.

He said: “These are the kind of cycling events which I absolutely love, you’re close to the crowd and you can hear every cheer.

“The cycling is fast and aggressive, which means plenty of entertainment for the crowds. With each round now being a UCI Class One event, there’s a lot for everyone to cycle for.”

The event is the first of six rounds on this year’s expanded series, which concludes in Manchester on March 14.

And promoter James Pope is hoping the line-ups will make this year’s Revolution Series one of the most highly competitive yet.

He added: “We’ve got a selection of road specialists who will be taking part off the back of extremely strong seasons, alongside track specialists looking to kick off their season with a bang, all of which means the action inside the velodrome is going to be unmissable.”

Tickets for the opening round start from £15. For more information, or to buy tickets, visit www.cyclingrevolution.com or call 0844 412 4650.
