Eddie the Boss is back
Edvald Boasson Hagen was a big-name signing when Team Sky recruited him for their debut season and he was an integral part of their team for much of their formative years.
Having found himself out of favour, however, he made the decision to drop down a level and sign for MTN-Qhubeka – and it is a move which has paid dividends for the Norwegian champion.
His performances at the Tour of Britiain, though ultimately he missed out on a coveted stage win, were impressive through the week and were the mark of a man in form.
His comeback on Hartside Fell, followed by his stinging attack into Nottingham – which ultimately sealed the jersey – made him a worthy winner overall.
The 28-year-old is now the first man to ever to win the race on two separate occasions and ensured MTN-Qhubeka’s fine season continued on a high.
Next up are the World Championships, where he will spearhead the Norwegian charge alongside Alexander Kristoff.
And while the rainbow jersey remains a long shot, he has ensured his name is once again one to look out for.
