Olympic team pursuit champion Peter Kennaugh’s form on the road has already seen him tipped to be a future Grand Tour contender.
And Team Sky’s Manxman took a small step on that road by winning his first career stage race – the 2.1-classified Settimana Internatiozionale Coppi e Bartali.
The British team dominated in Italy, with Ben Swift and Dario Cataldo also securing stage wins, alongside victory in the team time trial.
And Kennaugh’s stage two victory from a break proved comprehensive enough to gift the 24-year-old the overall victory.
