British riders stamped their authority on the Tour of Britain on stage six, with arguably the greatest of them all and a blistering new talent at the head of affairs.
Sir Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) rode with the conviction of a man with a mojo rediscovered to strengthen his grip on the IG gold jersey of race leader at the end of a rolling sixth stage from Sidmouth to Haytor.
And Simon Yates, riding in the colours of the Great Britain development squad, so impressive in the Tour de l’Avenir and in the RideLondon-Surrey Classic, sprinted clear to claim the biggest victory of his career to date.
With Mark Cavendish already having bagged a stage win, and The Mall beckoning on Sunday, further success for the home nation is surely on the cards.
