The third and final instalment of pro cycling’s Middle East excursion certainly delivered drama by the bucket-load, with Chris Froome’s stage victory atop Green Mountain setting up overall victory.
Team Sky’s first overall success of the season certainly bodes well for the remainder of 2014, with Froome having sealed his title by staying safe in the bunch on stage six.
With GC honours all but decided prior to the stage, it was back to the fast men to deliver one final dramatic finale – and there was no shortage of teams desperate to end their time in the deserts with a victory.
As it was, however, it was left to Andre Greipel to seal yet another success this season and remind his rivals why they have every reason to be fearful come next month’s return of the WorldTour.
