Already viewed as a major star of the future, Rafal Majka (Tinkoff-Saxo) has left nobody in any doubt of his phenomenal potential after a stunning six weeks.
Stepping up to the fore when team leader Alberto Contador crashed out of the Tour de France, Majka won two stages on his way to bagging the polka dot jersey of King of the Mountains.
And now, within a fortnight of completing cycling’s greatest race – his second Grand Tour of the season after the Giro d’Italia – Majka wowed his home fans at the Tour of Poland.
Two stage wins in the mountains left him in pole position ahead of the final stage time trial and in Krakow’s iconic market square Majka ensured he held on to the lead ahead of Ion Izaguirre (Movistar).
