Wiggle Dragon Ride entry to open on November 1

Entries for the 2013 Wiggle Dragon Ride will open at 9am on November 1.

Some 4,500 cyclists tackled the Wiggle Dragon Ride this year. 5000 are expected in 2013

This year’s 10th anniversary event attracted some 4,500 entrants and organisers are expecting 5,000 next year.

The 2013 event will continue to support Prostate Cancer UK. Some £75,000 was raised from the event for the charity this year.

Three routes were offered this year, and the longer Gran Fondo and Medio routes will remain unchanged in 2013. The shortest route will become a women-only Cycletta in 2013.

Dragon Ride founder, Lou Lusardi, who will be Technical Director on the 2013 event, said: “The 2012 event proved to be a real challenge for riders, by retaining the same route for 2013 those who struggled in 2012 now know what to expect and can train accordingly, or choose the less demanding but equally rewarding Medio route.

“Riders will also be able to compare their year on year times over the unchanged routes.”

The sportive will again be hosted by Human Race, organisers of the Etape Cymru and 53 other events.

CEO, Nick Rusling, said hosting the Dragon Ride was an honour.

“The Wiggle Dragon Ride is truly special and our aim is to continually improve the event year on year. Over the 10 years of its existence the event has developed an amazing community and reputation, which makes it stand out above all other events and we’re tremendously excited to welcome another 5,000 participants in 2013.”
