Barnoldswick to the French Alps and back in a day? With an ascent of l’Alpe d’Huez thrown in for good measure?
Hope Tech riders Paul Oldham and Dave Collins braved a 5am alarm call to fly to the south of France and ride out onto the legendary slopes of l’Alpe d’Huez at 1.40pm the same day.
Some 40 minutes, 21 bends, and a coffee stop later, the pair began the descent to the foot of the mountain and the hire car.
An 8.20pm flight, and a one-hour time difference in their favour, saw the duo touchdown on English soil at 9.01pm.
A grand day out? The smiles tell their own story.
