Cycle a Difference Vietnam Challenge Ride 2015 registration opens

Charity event offers ten days of riding in South East Asia

A charity ride across Vietnam offering ‘the cycle adventure of a lifetime’ is open for entry ahead of the 2015 event.

The Cycle a Difference Vietnam Challenge Ride is open to any rider pledging to raise £3,000 in sponsorship for the Newborns Vietnam charity – part of which goes towards flights and accommodation.

In return, any rider signed up will enjoy ten days of riding across northwest and central Vietnam taking in some of the country’s most challenging and scenic roads in November 2015.

Setting out from Lao Cai, close to the Chinese border, the route will see riders tackle five days in the Vietnamese mountains as well as venturing on to the Ho Chi Minh trail and the Hai Van pass.

The ride covers more than 800 miles over the ten days, taking in Vietnam’s rural and urban landscape – with Factory Media’s David Jaquin among last year’s participants.

Newborns Vietnam bill the ride as “epic biking, amazing scenery, towering mountains, cascading rice terraces and the simple rhythms of rural life and the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality”.

The UK-registered volunteer-based charity works to reduce the high levels of neonatal mortality and illness in South East Asia and provides on a ‘heroes’ welcome at the Da Nang Hospital for Women & Children once the ride is complete.
