The Richardson’s Rumble sportive returns on Sunday (March 10), with 100 and 67-mile routes through the Cambridgeshire countryside.
The fourth edition of the early-season sportive starts and finishes at the Richardson’s Cycles shop in St. Ives.
“What the area lacks in large climbs it more than makes up for in scenery,” the organisers tell us. “If the wind is blowing you’ll be in for a hard workout on the flatlands and be glad there’s no big hills.”
This year the organisers, Wheels in Wheels Events, are providing road captains on the 67-mile route to guide groups at a steady pace and pass on advice to sportive newcomers. The service is free but riders wishing to join the groups are encouraged to register beforehand to ensure their place.
Both routes, meanwhile, will be fully signposted and have well-stocked feed stations with Clif Bar energy products, as well as mechanical back en-route as well at the start/finish, plus there will be a broom wagon should all else fail.
Entry costs £19.50. Visit www.wheelsinwheels.com for more information.
