Haute Route Dolomites
Need more of a challenge? A variety of multi-day sportives or tours take place throughout Europe and this summer will see the first edition of the Haute Route Dolomites.
The seven-day event – comprised of four classic stages, two marathon stages and a mountain time trial – will see riders take on an 877km route from Venice to Geneva, via 17 climbs in the Dolomites and Swiss Alps, and with 19,000m of ascent.
The route includes some of cycling’s most famous mountain climbs, including the Passo di Gavia, Passo Pordoi, Passo di Giau, and the Furkapass, as well as an individual time trial up the Passo dello Stelvio, the highest point in the event at 2,758m.
The fully-supported event is one of three Haute Route sportives this summer, with equivalent multi-day epics in the Alps (Geneva to Nice on August 24-30) and Pyrenees (Barcelona to the Basque Coast on September 1-7), but organisers are calling this Dolomites edition the toughest event they’ve put on to date.
