Bushcombe Lane, Gloucestershire
Bushcombe Lane, Gloucestershire
Bushcombe Lane in Woodmancote is another of Britain’s short but fearsome ascents.
Warning signs of a 25 per cent gradient leave no illusion as to what is to come and the road kicks up for a long, 20 per cent section before two brutal hairpins push that number even higher.
At its crescendo, even 25 per cent appears a modest rating on the final, painful corner. From there, the road continues to rise but the gradient eases significantly on the run in to the crest of the hill where it’s time for a well-earned breather.
