UK Tracks
If you’re all fired up by the Olympic track events in Athens why not have a go ‘on the boards’ yourself? It’s great fun.
There are several tracks in the UK. Sadly not enough velodromes, especially considering the weather. There are steps to build a covered velodrome in London for the London Olympics. This will go ahead regardless of whether we get it or not. There are also plans to put a ‘cover’ on Herne Hill, The UK’s oldest and most historical race track.
Trying track for the first time must be supervised, although it’s not as dangerous as you think. There are several try-outs sessions at the main tracks and training nights and sessions usually have a slot for new riders. It’s perfect for kids too as they seem to have less fear of the banking than adults – once they get the hang of it they love it.
