Route mapping and tracking app Strava has launched a new photo sharing functionality, Strava Photos, alongside introducing improved leaderboards and a new My Recent Efforts feature.
All the new features are available in the newly updated Strava mobile app, version 4.4, available on iOS and Android from the App Store and Google Play Store now.
Strava claim the new updates will ‘connect, motivate and inspire athletes like never before’, with the feature all designed exclusively for mobile apps.
It was already possible for Strava athletes to link their Instagram accounts to recorded activities, bu now – with Strava Photos – photos can be attached directly from their mobile camera app or photo album.
My Recent Efforts, meanwhile, allows users to analuse and compare their past segment performances directly from a mobile device, allowing for easier analysis and the ability to track improvement over time – which Strava hope will also help to boost motivation.
Finally, the redesigned mobile leaderboards will give users easier access to segment rankings among the athletes they follow, their clubs and the Strava community.
Strava Premium users can also access personalised leaderbards from their mobile devices, allowing comparisons with athletes of the same weight or age.
Aaron Forth, Strava’s chief product officer, said: “Version 4.4 really enhances the Strava mobile experience for our athletes.
“Strava Photos adds more depth to the stories Strava athletes tell one another through their activities. My Recent Efforts and the improved leaderboards will enable athletes using smartphones to track their progress over time, while also seeing how their performances stack up among the athletes and Clubs they follow.
“All of the new and updated features are elegantly designed and integrated into the app. Version 4.4 has exciting new features while still providing an intuitive and engaging experience.”
