Criterium races return to Smithfield Market in June

The Jupiter London Nocturne returns on Saturday June 6, with a packed programme of criterium racing set to take place around Smithfield Market.

The 1.1km city-centre circuit will hope to welcome 10,000 fans – as last year’s event did – with elite men and women’s races set to top a billing which will also see penny farthings, Santander Cycles (aka ‘Boris Bikes’) and folding bikes raced around the circuit.

It will be the ninth edition of the popular evening criterium, with Ian Stannard, Alex Dowsett and Hannah Barnes among the former winners of the elite races.

June’s event will also see the Leigh Day Criterium for amateur riders, the City Criterium for city-based business teams and a Retro Criterium where vintage bikes and clothing are the order of the day.

Jupiter vice-chairman Edward Bonham-Carter said: “The Nocturne is a fantastic event which captures the culture and variety of cycling in the capital.”

Though the majority of the circuit is open to spectators for free, tickets for the grandstand or hospitality area are also available to buy from the event website.
