Laura Trott and Marianne Vos will go head-to-head on the track when the Revolution series returns at the Lee Valley VeloPark on October 24 and 25.
Britain’s track queen Trott and multiple world and Olympic champion Vos are the latest big names to have signed up for the opening weekend of the 2014 series, which takes place at the scene of Trott’s double Olympic triumph at London 2012.
The 22-year-old Wiggle-Honda rider was one of the star performers during last year’s Revolution series, sealing a clean sweep of race wins as the season drew to a close in the capital.
And Trott is relishing the return to the boards this time out, where – once again – UCI points will be up for grabs.
Trott said: “The atmosphere and support from the fans at each Revolution event is always unbelievable, especially when we are back in the Lee Valley VeloPark.
“Add the UCI points into the mix and there is a lot to cycle for in this year’s series.”
Vos, meanwhile, is also no stranger to the ever-popular Revolution series, for which tickets are on sale now and selling out fast.
The Dutch wonder woman, who earlier this month finished second on The Mall at the RideLondon Grand Prix, is hoping to carry her road form onto the track.
She said: “Having competed in at the Revolution Series in Manchester a couple of years ago I know first-hand how electrifying the racing is, and coming back to London to compete in the Olympic Velodrome against the best British riders is an exciting challenge.
“I’ve had a strong set of results on the road over the summer, so I’m looking to repeat that as we get onto the track.”
The series, which this year has been expanded to six events, will also visit Manchester and Glasgow over the winter before returning to London ahead of its final round at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre on March 14.
James Pope, director of FACE Partnership, promises more announcements and big-name riders will be revealed in due course.
Tickets for round one of the Revolution series start from £15 and are available at www.cyclingrevolution.com or by calling 0844 412 4650.
